Accelerating by Slowing Down

Turtle-Sign-Reading-Just-Slow-Down

In nearly every leader there is a clock, a sense of pressure that “drives us” to speed up and move quickly.  Quick, get the ministry started.  Quickly get it better.  It’s about those outside of our walls so let’s move faster, do more, press harder!

But what if God is moving us to accelerate by slowing down?  The Lord has repeatedly said to me, “The pace is determined by the culture.  The slow pace of developing others exponentially accelerates the future!”  Developing spiritually passionate leaders can seem to take forever. Slow isn’t a clear picture… crawling is more like it.  Or sitting still!

And yet… all of the while we are “sitting” and waiting for the development of other spiritually alive and spiritually powerful leaders we are preparing for an acceleration!  The power of 2 or 3 leaders living in the calling, and walking in the same culture now MULTIPLIES their power.  This is not an addition this is a multiplier!  The gifts, insights and collaboration now go way beyond what the one leader could do/ see.  In fact, as leaders are developed and join the calling of the Lord it is likely many of these leaders will eventually develop far more than the original leader could have imagined.

Jesus invested the bulk of his ministry going much slower than those around him would have desired, even slower than he could have personally pulled off.  But his choice to go slower eventually exploded in Acts 2.

If you want to speed up your ministry, you might consider slowing down to invest in a few people deeply and watch the slow acceleration that brings power, hope and destiny!
