Jesus said he came so that we would have abundant life. Really? Do you know many people who would describe their life as abundant? Jam packed? Stressed? Over committed? Yes to all of the above, but abundant? Full of meaning and hope? Not quite.
Which begs the question of why? Why is it that what Jesus promised we can’t seem to find? Is it hidden? A mystery? Or could it be that we have yet to discover how to live Kingdom life in the life we now have with problems, relational struggles, financial pressures, hectic schedules?
Abundant life isn’t somewhere else, for some other time. It is you and me living the Kingdom right here, right now. It is us working our calendar based upon the Kingdom calling and not the crazy chaos. It is you and me learning to work through the relational wisdom of the Word to forgive, to care, to slow down and see others, and not to wish for more time (which we are not going to receive).
Abundant life is right here, right now, a life full of meaning, a life loaded with destiny, a life where problems become possibilities in the love of Christ. The Kingdom of God is within us, or it can be if we choose it!
