Who Needs What?

I’ve heard leaders, in conversation with other leaders, say “I really don’t need worship but maybe once a month.”  What does that mean?  Do they feel it is a need or feeling that can be satiated one time a month?

Have you looked carefully at the pattern of Jesus?  To begin with, he was an Israelite.  The people of Israel hosted 7 feasts – 7!  That means they were always coming and going from worship.  The pattern was set that kept them rooted in the move and work of God from redemption from Egypt, to first fruits (provision), to the day of Atonement (sin), etc.

Have you noticed Jesus has another level of spiritual pattern?  He regularly leaves the rush of calendar and needs and goes off to pray.  In spite of the momentum, he is convinced that the real key is his connection to the Father.  So, he regularly walks away from “moments for momentum” and moves to pray!

Even if you don’t “need” the high of worship but one time per month, can we say as followers,

WE NEED YOU TO BE PEOPLE OF WORSHIP!

For our sake, walk in the patterns where the Lord has deep access to your life!  For our sake, leave us and do go pray!  For our sake, walk away from opportunities to do more and speak more, and choose to be with the Father!  For our sake, refuse to pursue the next cool assignment, and move at the pace of Jesus.

Yes you can do more speaking, traveling, and lead conferences.  But for our sake and for those the Lord is assigning you to, please be sure it is the Spirit’s calling and not some other driver inside of you.

We need you to lead us with your life, with your own worship, and with your own vulnerability to the Lord.  We need you to lead us from a heart that is regularly living Psalm 51, “Test me O Lord and see if there is any wicked way in me.”  We need you to lead from revelation (what the Lord is saying to you), not intuition (what your gut is saying to you).

You may not need worship more than once per month, but trust us, we need you to be people of worship, people who carry the presence of the Most High.  Start there.  Then we will follow!
