Calling…Going Deeper…Why Beauty Opens Doors

Masters_Hand_std_t_nvEsther was beautiful.  Everyone could see that.  Eventually Esther becomes queen.  No surprise there either.  Truth is, beauty opens doors.  It’s just the way life works, the way it always seems to be – or so it seems.  People with beauty get unusual breaks, options, and possibilities that others never experience.  Beauty opens doors the same as does athletic power, money, charisma, etc.  Life seems to work that way.

So, if you are beautiful doors may open to you.  Enjoy!  But wait!!!  Is it possible that beauty is a gift?  Is it possible that beauty is a part of calling?  Really?

Colossians 1:16 declares that everything (and everyone) is made by the Lord and made for HIS purpose.  If we sit in the depth of that word, reflect on the implications, then it would indicate that our whole being is a trust to be stewarded.  Even beauty!

What if the question was different?  Was Esther Queen because she was beautiful (as we tend to think), or was Esther given beauty TO BECOME QUEEN?  Was there a divine purpose to her beauty?  Was her destiny somehow linked to her physical stature?

Esther’s beauty does open doors and she does become queen.  Her destiny was not to become queen to enjoy all of the good things of life, but to strategically leverage her place (as queen) for the Jewish nation!  Without beauty, she does not become queen and the Jewish nation is at risk.

Her beauty, if you read the story in the Bible, does make possible her being queen.  It also puts her at great risk.  She would have to decide.  Was being queen cool or was it a calling for the plans of the Lord?

You have beauty as well.  Could be you are mechanically-minded, a systems thinker, a charismatic personality, gentle-spirited, great with numbers, musically inclined, artistic, great with words, etc.  You have beauty.  What is your beauty and why were you given that specific beauty?

The Lord could have given you any kind of beauty but chose to give you exactly the beauty you have! Why?

The gift of our calling is a gift of wonder, amazement and passion.  It is not a gift to be taken lightly, nor is it a gift for our own kingdom.  Colossians declares truth that should grab every detail of our lives and stir in us a determination to keep exploring, to discover our “beauty.”  And more importantly, once we discover our beauty, we must dedicate it to the Lord.  However He chooses to use it is His purview.  We must go deeper into our own being to find His fingerprint, and once discovering our “beauty,” sanctify it, dedicate it to the Lord.

You have beauty.  And that beauty is for a divine purpose.  The scripture is undeniable in that.  Undeniable.  What is your beauty?  And what will you do with that beauty?
