Our church had been through a long season of challenge. The leaders had made the shift and the focus was clear. I then said to the Lord, “We need a blessing. Would you send us people?” The response was immediate, “No chance!” It was shocking, but somehow didn’t seem like a rebuke. “If I send you people now you will shift back to your old ways. You are leading a mindset change among the church and I will not mess that up!”
Amazing! The “no” was an act of love. “No” was in fact the way to the future! How cool that our Lord always responds in love, always responds according to our best future. I wrote in my journal, “This may be the first time I ever experienced a no as an act of love. How special!”
Your future is too important. When the Lord blocks the path, closes a door, refuses a request, it may be that He is choosing you.
“No chance” was one of the coolest moments of my life!
